Men's Golf Earns Second Place at Oakwood Intercollegiate to Open Spring Season

Spring season got underway for the Dodge City men's golf team as they traveled to Enid, Oklahoma to compete in the Oakwood Intercollegiate hosted by Southwestern Christian University. 

The tournament was shortened to just two rounds due to weather conditions and the Conquistadors put together a strong performance with two teams in action. The lead team posted a score of 606 to finish +38 and earn second place just five strokes behind Hutchinson while finishing ahead of both Garden City and Iowa Western the only two other community colleges at the tournament. The Conqs posted a first-round score of 313 and then improved by seven strokes in round two with a 293. 

The Conqs' second team in action would finish with a two-round score of 630 to finish +62 to tie for tenth place out of 19 teams. It was rounds of 328 and 302 to make up the Conqs team score. 

Five top 15 finishes by Conq golfers highlighted the tournament in Oklahoma. Brent Reintjes led the way for the Conqs as he finished tied for second with a +6 score of 148 behind rounds of 78 and 70. Cole Streck put together one of his best performances as a Conq finishing tied for fifth at +7 with 149 notching rounds of 75 and 74. Thanaphon Suwannapratheep joined them in the top 10 finishing tied for seventh after finishing +8 with a two-round score of 150, shooting rounds of 78 and 72. 

Supakit Seelanagae and Arthit Kruaprayong both finished at +9 with a score of 151 each to tie for 11th place. Seelanagae tallied rounds of 76 and 75, while Kruaprayong posted rounds of 79 and 72. 

Luka Stanisavljevic tied for 30th place behind a +14 score of 156 as he carded rounds of 80 and 76. Austin Goodrum finished tied for 70th with a 164 score (+22) with rounds of 81 and 83. 

Davan Smith, Cooper Scheck, and Theo Juhl were also in action for the Conqs finishing tied for 85th, tied for 91st, and tied for 97th, respectively. Smith finished with a 167 (+25) with rounds of 92 and 75, while Scheck posted a 169 (+27) behind rounds of 88 and 81. Juhl recorded a score of 171 (+29) after posting rounds of 87 and 84. 

Up next the Conqs open KJCCC action with the first of three Jayhawk Match tournaments with the first taking place in Manhattan at Colbert Hills golf course on Monday and Tuesday, March 27th and 28th.
